Dirk joined Democratic politics with a technology background, having served as an engineer at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and various start-up companies.  He brings and analytical perspective and technical proficiency to the planning, targeting and management of modern campaigns.

Having worked on previous campaigns and witnessed the inefficiencies and corresponding high costs of campaigns conducted with incomplete or inaccurate data, Dirk has helped define how modern campaigns use information to interpret voter behavior. His work with labor unions and progressive groups like SEIU, AFSCME, UAW, the DCCC, The Atlas Project, America Coming Together and other grassroots organizations has helped candidates identify clear pathways to victory. As the Director of Field Strategies’ targeting department, Dirk ensures Field Strategies provides each of our clients with cutting-edge, sophisticated analysis and effective, insightful plans to deliver double-digit gains to victory.

Dirk has also consulted for candidates in municipal races, state legislative races, presidential campaigns, and everything in between, including Mayor-elect Mitch Landrieu (New Orleans, LA), Senators Joe Biden (D-DE) and Tim Johnson (D-SD), Representatives Ann Kirkpatrick (AZ-01), Harry Mitchell (AZ-05), Gabrielle Giffords (AZ-08), Governor Steve Beshear (D-KY), the Arizona, Florida, and Kentucky Democratic Parties, and Wesley Clark for President.

Dirk grew up in Phoenix and attended the University of Arizona in Tucson.
